My Parents Wedding Anniversary....

Today is the 30th wedding anniversary of my parents! It was April 7, 1977 the date when my dad tied the knot to my mom, and thus began an eventful journey, and a story of positive growth in the lives of both of them. My dad as usual has been an epitome of hardwork and sincerity, and my mom, the best companion for him, who took incharge of home growth. In these 30 years, both have seen lots of moments of "special moments", which I would try to recollect and put them here, as a mark of respect for their struggle!
1. The intention to make sure their children (both myself and my sis, Viji) get good education and be successful, he made sure we get admitted to the best convent in the vicinity of our small town. Now, these small decisions are more than worth to be put here, as they make or mar a child's future.
2. My dad who being in a coal mines exploration company, had to get transferred more often to a forrest area where he has to drill huge bores to find if the area is fit enough for mining. Now, though he had options, he didn't unsettle our education and my mom was always there to look after us and the days we used to jump with joy whenever he returns once every 2 weeks, is still fresh!
3. My mom who was unable to hide her joy when one of my classmate's mother asked, "what do your children eat that they are so intelligent?" :)
4. My grandmother who probably let me mom do her home activities by engaging us in "nice little stories" like "marathala mamiar", they are still fresh..
5. All the neighbours of our Godavarikhani, who was like a family, we never knew what caste/creed/color was in those growing up years. It was a good envt to grow up, honestly.
6. Dad being called on stage for collecting my "award" for my X class exams. He got it from NTPC General Manager, and as I was studying my XIth in Chennai, he still recollects how proud he felt to get the claps of the audience on that day!
7. My mom who witnessed the gold medal award ceremony of mine. My sis's goldmedal ceremony was sadly a private student affair, and hence both my parents missed the event. However, the way they show our medals with pride, gives us a sense of standing up to their dreams responsibly.
7. Viji getting married to Shiva is a most special moment in their lives.
8. Dad listening to the audio of Steve mentioning my name (previous article) again and again :)

and many many more events.

Now, couple of days back, on my insistence, dad has opted for VRS (Voluntary Retirement) and hopefully, I would give him the "rest" he really deserves, and also my mom, some nice moments.

I wish both of them go on and on, and have a great time ahead! Dedicate to my appa/amma/patti :)

Pic taken today.... Hey Viji, would update the pic once you are here next month :)
